The Groom Creek Fire District will hold our annual Firewise Day and Pancake Breakfast on Saturday, May 7th at the Fire Station on Friendly Pines and Spur Lane. The event coincides with National Wildfire Preparedness Day where communities across the nation will be taking action to prevent wildfires.
The Pancake Breakfast will begin at 8 am with presentations to begin at 9 am from the US Forest Service, Groom Creek Fire District and our Fuels Reduction Crew. Breakfast will be $5 for adults and $3 for children 12 and under.
After the Presentations, our Fuels Crew will be going around the community with our chipper to get rid of small piles of branches and damaged trees from the winter storm in January. If you will not be here on that day, you can simply pile the debris near the curb and we will take care of it for you. We are requesting a $25 donation for each pile mitigated. A sign up sheet will be available at the Pancake Breakfast.
